More About Claire Hupy
So, where are you from?
It's one of the first questions I ever get asked - and one of the toughest to answer. I was born in Delaware. I went to high school in Colorado. I currently live in Los Angeles, California. In between? I've also lived in Illinois, New Jersey, Alabama, California (a small town near Sacramento) and Virginia. My father was a pilot in the Air Force, and over the course of my childhood deployed to Korea, Germany, Afghanistan, & Iraq. Being a Military Brat wasn't alway easy, but it was always an adventure.
TV was a tightly controlled resource in my childhood. I was allowed just one program per day, and only after homework was finished. I still remember the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw (The Eleventh Hour) and the subsequent behind the scenes interviews which made me realize Hey, I want to do that. I just needed to learn how.
Enter, USC Film School, where I spent four years studying to earn my degree in Writing for Screen and Television. I spent my days in the classroom entrenched in the ins and outs of movies and television. My nights were in the dorms discussing everything from cold pizza to French New Wave Cinema. After graduation, I put my time in at Verve Talent & Literary Agency, and assistant on multiple great TV shows - including Shadowhunters, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, and the upcoming Mysterious Benedict Society.
Outside of being a screenwriter, I've also lectured for a Catholic Mass in a cathedral in Ireland, cross-country skied out to a yurt in the Rocky Mountains, and run the 26.2 miles from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica Pier.
I don't know what's coming next - But I know it's going to be epic.
